Felicity Merriman Dolls

Felicity Merriman – American Girl

Felicity Merriman is a spunky, spritely girl growing up in Virginia in 1774, just before the Revolutionary War. Felicity grows impatient doing the “sitting-down kinds of things” that colonial girls are expected to do. She much prefers to be outdoors, especially riding horses! Felicity learns about loyalty and responsibility – to her family, her friends, and her country – and what it means to be truly independent.

Felicity was the first doll added to the American Girl collection in 1991. The initial three, Kirsten, Samantha, and Molly launched the collection in 1986. In 2002, Felicity and her outfits, accessories and furniture were removed from the mailed catalogs and relegated to online ordering only. Since that time several of her accoutrements have become sold out. In this way, Felicity had been effectively discontinued as a full member of the American Girl collection. This decision on the part of Pleasant Company has saddened many in the American Girl collecting community, especially those who collect Felicity or were consideringing collecting her. However, in 2004, because of incredible negative feedback from fans of Felicity, and because sales of Felicity items at the new AG Place New York were very good, Pleasant Company has decided not to retire her! In fact, in August 2004, three of Felicity’s previously retired items were reintroduced. Her School Outfit, Colonial Undergarments and her Shoes, Stockings & Garters set are available again. Best of all there will be an American Girl Felicity TV movie this Fall!

Felicity’s best friend, Elizabeth Cole, was added to the collection of American Girls in September 2005. Just like Nellie, Elizabeth will likely not be a limited edition doll, but will be a continuing part of Felicity’s collection!
